We received an email this week from a former Whangaparaoa Junior Mike Forster, who heard about our web site in Austria! He is now a Golf Pro!! Here below is an extract:- "My name is Mike Forster and was a junior member at WGP almost 30 years ago now!!!!!! I read in the Golf Magazine that you have a web site so I could not resist having a look. I just thought I would write and congratulate you on a great site and to see that WGP has almost 50 junior members is a credit to everyone involved. When I was a member, there were about 8-10 junior members. I was caught looking for balls (or most likely taking balls from the fairways) the Green keeper who was in those days well over 60 (I think his name was Dave) he used to live next door to the course and run the bar as well) He talked me into having a go and the then President Bill Shearer gave me some old clubs and I mean old….. I never looked back. I left Orewa College and took the position of Assistant Professional at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club in Wellington and have been a PGA Pro for over 20 Years and now live in Vienna Austria and work as a Head Professional at a club in Vienna www.golfrange.at Enough about me, I thought the site was fantastic and congratulations to all those involved in your junior program and I wish you all the best in the future. Glad to see that the Target panel beaters cup is still being played!!" If anyone would like to make contact with Mike, his email address is mike.forster@chello.at So come on Juniors! You can do it!!!!
